I recently retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service and reaching the rank of Colonel. During that time, I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan six times, and earned two Bronze Stars and one Legion of Merit. When I returned from my last deployment to Afghanistan, I came home to a country and a state I barely recognized. The politicians I once looked up to seemed more concerned with holding power and "owning" the other side, instead of serving the people they represent. Everyday citizens on both sides of the aisle were being ignored, and their support taken for granted - or written off entirely. Campaign tactics seemed targeted to an ever-narrower segment of the electorate, and nobody seemed to think their representatives were looking out for them.
I've seen enough. I retired from the military early so that I can attempt to bring some common sense back to Florida politics. I've begun my second service to the country and the state that I love. My oath of service didn't come with an expiration date, and I'm ready to take the fight home.
